| The third meeting of the Parties of Aarhus Convention |
| The third meeting of the Parties was held in Riga, Latvia, on 11-13 June 2008.
The Meeting adopted of a strategic plan for the Convention, resolved the issue of how to calcuate ratification of amendments, and renewed the mandates of task forces dealing with access to justice, electronic information tools and public participation in international forums. Albania was represented by Deputy Minister Mr. Aleksander Garuli and official focal point Mr. Gavrosh Zela.

The Government of Albania has received a grant from the World Bank’s International Development Fund (IDF) to finance the Strengthening of Aarhus Convention Implementation Project. The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Water Administration (MoEFWA) in Albania has overall responsibility for the project.
