Albania and Aarhus Convention

Albania has ratified its adherence to the Aarhus Convention as early as 25 June 1998 and is party to it as of 27 July 2001. The Aarhus Convention was ratified in Law No. 8672, dated  26.10.2000, “On the ratification of the Aarhus Convention on the right of the public to access to information, participation in decision-making and on access to justice regarding environmental issues” (Official Gazette 35/2000, p. 1705, date of publication 10.11.2000).

For the implementation of the principles of this Convention, the Strategy and Action Plan (2005-2010) for the Implementation of the Aarhus Convention was adopted with DCM 469, dated 23.06.2005 (Official Gazette, 56, page 2018, dated 05.07.2005). In its development participated all the ministries whose work is related to the implementation of the principles of the Convention.
